2nd CAFIB Fila Brasileiro Exhibition in the Czech Republic
| Idioma: |

The history of the Fila Brasileiro in the Czech Republic began in Colombia, where the Czech engineer Jan Kubesa lived for several years for professional reasons. It was there that he discovered and fell in love with the breed, acquiring his first specimen, a puppy named Ogum Roni de Conal Kennel. Interestingly, while living in that country he also became fascinated by Colombian Paso Fino horses (known there as “El Rolls Royce del mundo hípico”), and when he returned to the Czech Republic with his dog, he also brought with him the dream of breeding these horses. In 2002, he succeeded in importing a stallion and a mare from Colombia.

Returning to the Fila, in 1999 Jan Kubesa wrote and published the book *Brazilský Fila*, richly illustrated with beautiful photographs. In 2000, he founded and became president of the Onceiro Club, created to preserve, improve, and promote the Fila Brasileiro in the Czech Republic. Its first international exhibition was held in 2002 and judged by the Spanish judge Jaime Pérez Marhuenda. From then on, the exhibition was held annually and, since my first judging assignment there, in Radíkov in 2003, the exhibitions have been preceded by a Phenotype and Temperament Analysis, exactly in the same way CAFIB conducts them in Brazil. Around that same time, Jan also founded and began distributing the magazine *Zpravodaj – Speciálního Kynologického Klubu* (a complicated name meaning *Newsletter – Specialized Cynological Club*).

The following individuals took part in the events organized by Onceiro: Jan Kubesa, Luís Fernando Zanetti Coeli, Carlos do Amaral Cintra Filho, “Caíco” (who were still CAFIB judges at the time), Américo Cardoso dos Santos Júnior, Airton Campbell, Luciano José de Almeida Gavião, and Jaime Pérez Marhuenda. It is worth emphasizing that the Onceiro Club always followed CAFIB’s breeding and exhibition regulations, and even its forms were printed according to the model adopted in Brazil. Jan Kubesa served as a CAFIB judge from 2008 to 2015 and passed away in 2024.
On June 1, 2025, our activities in that country resumed with the 1st CAFIB Fila Brasileiro Exhibition in the Czech Republic, held in Doubravnik and judged by Mariana Campbell.
Here I would like to open a parenthesis to recall that, in 1993, following the fall of the communist regime, the former Czechoslovakia was divided into Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Then, in 2016, the Czech government issued a recommendation encouraging the use of the name Czechia, which is how the country was officially listed by FIFA and UEFA during the 2026 FIFA World Cup (although the name Czech Republic is still considered correct). This is not the first time a country has changed its name, as Thailand was once Siam, Iran was once Persia, and Zimbabwe was once Rhodesia.

And now, on May 31, 2026, Jaime Pérez Marhuenda judged the 2nd CAFIB Fila Brasileiro Exhibition in the Czech Republic, held in Eustach and organized by Dagmar Kratochvilova, Dana Kalova, David Ulbrich, Jana Sladkova, and Jaroslav Pors. Jaime’s sons, Adrián Pérez Pizones and Marcos Pérez Pizones, served as ring stewards and also intend to become CAFIB judges. The secretariat was managed by Jaroslav Pors (who was also responsible for the photographs and videos) and by Hanna Vogel, Adrián’s girlfriend. The role of decoy during the attack tests was performed by Ales Koldinsky and David Ulbrich.
Thirteen dogs participated in the Phenotype and Temperament Analysis, all of them passing, and the Exhibition featured 20 dogs in the ring.
The main results were:
BEST MALE: Napoleão Pedra de Pirenópolis, owned by Karet Neckov

BEST FEMALE: Asortea da Boa Sorte, owned by Jana Sládková, of Mlýny

BEST TEMPERAMENT: Xuri Fi-box, owned by Ester Faldikova, of Zelechovice

BEST HEAD: Tiara Fi-box, owned by Dana Kalová, of Lysice

Our 2026 calendar will continue with the 1st CAFIB Fila Brasileiro Exhibition in Anápolis, Goiás, on June 20 and 21.
